Caselle airport serves the Piedmont region, one of the most important areas in Europe in terms of population, resources and surplus value.
Many world-famous Italian and international companies are based in Turin and Piedmont .
Turin and its region, traditionally known for the automobile industry, have diversified their economic structure, moving increasingly towards sectors linked to research and innovation. Tourism has also benefited from this transformation, becoming a strategic activity for the development and promotion of the region whose jewel in the crown is the Venaria Royal Palace. Airports are a formidable asset for the economy and for employment in the surrounding areas. They also represent an important competitive advantage for the promotion of an area, increasing the capacity for competition. It is estimated that the global impact on employment generated by Torino Caselle airport is more than 3,000 jobs.

Hey jared something from the writer's almanac you might find interesting (very loosely Superman related). Who knows where all your blogging might get you..
It's the birthday of Umberto Eco, (books by this author) born in the Piedmont region of Italy (1932). He started out as a philosopher and literary critic, and became one of the first intellectuals to study popular culture, writing serious essays about James Bond movies and Superman comics and other products of pop culture that had previously been ignored by literary critics.
Then, one day, Eco decided to produce some popular culture himself. He got an idea for a murder mystery set in a monastery in the middle ages, and he called it The Name of the Rose. When it came out in 1980, The Name of the Rose sold 2 million copies. He's continued writing novels since then, including Foucault's Pendulum (1988) and The Island of the Day Before (1995).
Thanks all for your welcome back. The region we were is wonderful and I am thinking about starting an own blog that concentrates on the Marche-region of Italy. There you can find just about everything. Nice people, good food, good wine. You can go hiking, mountain biking, fishing. There is art and culture around every corner and the landscape goes from mountaineous, as in the picture here, to palms and beaches. I have more pics, of course, and I will keep putting them up here. I am preparing a post about the two weeks as well.
Zooey, here's where I have been:
This place is in the Sibilline Mountains National Park. A very ancient and even mystic landscape, rife with legends. Ancient Sybil is said to have made her prophecies here and Pilate is said to be buried in the “Lago di Pilato”. And when you see the monasteries and hermits caves tucked away in remote valleys you start to believe in the spectres you see, when the night falls.
Yes Raven, this is one of the places where we were hiking. It is called Castellucio and is one of the most fascinating landscapes of Italy. They grow lentils there, the most delicious lentils.
Find more, here:
It is absolutely fascinating there.
